About Geri's Law
Geri Johnson was sexually molested as a child but couldn't get anyone to believe her.  The system failed her. She has turned her loss into a victory for others by closing a gaping loophole in the law that was letting convicted criminals off-the-hook.   With the help of the Never Again foundation, Geri inspired a landmark new law to be passed by the Arizona Legislature and signed into law by Governor Janet Napolitano in 2003.

The previous statute of limitations required victims to file any civil actions against a defendant within 2 years of date of the crime. The problem is that the criminal system often takes longer to process the case, and the victim would lose all their civil rights. Geri's Law (A.R.S. 12-511) extends the statute of limitations 1 year beyond the date of the criminal conviction for victims to file civil litigation.
